StopBy
Stopby is designed for users who want a clean, distraction-free new tab experience with essential daily tools. All data stays on your device, and no personal information is ever collected or tracked.
StopBy
A calmer, more useful new tab.
StopBy is a minimalist productivity Chrome extension that transforms the browser's new tab page into a lightweight personal dashboard.
Instead of opening another distracting feed, StopBy surfaces a small collection of useful everyday information—such as local weather, prayer times, and a Pomodoro timer—inside a clean and privacy-friendly interface.
There are no ads, no tracking, and personal data stays on the user's device.

The Idea
A browser new tab is one of the most frequently opened screens during the day.
Most of the time, however, it is either empty, cluttered with shortcuts, or designed to pull the user toward more content.
StopBy takes a different approach:
Show what matters, then get out of the way.
The extension is designed around quick-glance information rather than another destination users need to spend time inside.
Everyday Essentials
StopBy brings several small utilities into one new-tab experience.
Local Weather
Weather information is presented directly within the dashboard using location-aware data.
Prayer Times
Daily prayer times can be surfaced alongside other everyday information, making them accessible without opening another application.
Pomodoro Timer
A built-in Pomodoro timer provides a lightweight way to structure focused work sessions.
Quick Information
Essential information is kept within easy reach while maintaining a visually minimal experience.

Privacy by Default
StopBy is designed with a simple privacy principle:
Your new tab should not become another tracking surface.
The extension does not rely on advertising or behavioural tracking.
Where applicable, user preferences and application data are kept through browser-side storage rather than turning the extension into another account-based platform.
Lightweight Architecture
StopBy is built as a Chrome Extension using Manifest V3.
The project intentionally uses a relatively lightweight frontend stack:
- Vanilla JavaScript
- HTML5
- CSS3
- Chrome Storage API
- Geolocation API
- Fetch API
External services provide selected information without turning the extension into a large application platform.

Why StopBy
StopBy is deliberately small.
It does not try to replace a full productivity suite.
Instead, it improves a screen users already open constantly by making it:
cleaner,
more useful,
less distracting,
and more respectful of privacy.
Current State
Status: Completed
StopBy is available as a Chrome extension and represents a focused approach to browser-based productivity without unnecessary complexity.
